The basic eligibility criteria for selection as auditor of PSU is that only CA firms in India with at least one full-time financial controller can apply to the Indian authority CAG for allocation of public company audits. Partners who work full-time do not include if they
- Are partners in other firms.
- Are employed full-time/part-time elsewhere, practicing in their name, or otherwise engaged in the practice of law.
- Are remunerated by the firm which is below the prescribed limit and is not equal to the total remuneration paid to the partners during the assessment year.
Audit committees evaluate audit firms and individuals who will conduct the audit when conducting tenders to evaluate incumbent external auditors.
CA Partnership Opportunities
A CA partner of MDP(Management Development Program) in practice may become a partner in other firms or engage in other activities as agreed by the partners in their partnership deed.
In the case of a partner who is a CA, the provisions of Regulations 190A and 191 of the CAs Regulations, 1988 shall apply to his employment in any other firm or profession or part-time employment.
If a partner is not a CA, the provisions of the relevant Act and its rules or regulations shall apply.
A modification to form 18 now permits CA firms to partner with CMAs, CSs, Attorneys, Engineers, Architects, MBAs, and other individuals authorized under section 53B of the CA Regulations. The new form now requests details regarding the company’s PAN and GST.

How do you become a concurrent auditor?
Applications are invited from approved CA firms for appointment as concurrent auditors in the banks’ branches / CPCs / Special Bodies. Applications are invited from firms that meet the following requirements:
- Grade I, II, and III firms as per RBI grade at the time of application. CA Companies with RBI grade IV are not eligible to apply.
- The application process is not open to CA firms that have already been deployed or appointed as concurrent auditors at SBI’s regular concurrent branches.
- CA firms having at least one year of experience in concurrent audit of a commercial bank. Companies with less than one year of experience are not eligible to apply.
- CA Firms that are already engaged in other SBI assignments, such as auditors, stock auditors, forensic auditors, etc., are not eligible to apply to eliminate conflicts of interest.
