Choosing the Right College - NIT

As part of a collaborative agreement between nine National Institutes of Technologies (NITs) across India and the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) in Kandi, Sangareddy district, B-Tech students will have the opportunity to pursue their fourth year of studies at IIT-Hyderabad.

The eligibility criteria include these students achieving a minimum CGPA of 8.5 during their undergraduate studies. Additionally, NIT students with a CGPA of over 8 will have the chance to directly pursue a Ph.D. program at IIT-H without undergoing a selection process.

The nine NITs involved in this initiative (NIT-Sikkim, NIT Silchar, NIT Agartala, NIT Nagaland, NIT Meghalaya, NIT Srinagar, NIT Calicut, VNIT Nagpur, and NIT Rourkela) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT-H. This agreement also allows faculty members from these NITs to visit IIT-H and collaborate with their counterparts.

Describing this move as a long-term objective to foster research interest among undergraduate students of NITs, Professor BS Murty, the Director of IIT-H, expressed his views on the matter. Professor Saptarshi Majumdar, the Dean of Academics at IIT-H, and Professor Chandrashekhar Sharma, the Dean of Sponsored Research and Consultancy, also shared their perspectives on the collaboration.
